Black walnut ๐ณ
We recover tons of maple, oak, an other common species, but every now and then we get calls to salvage walnut ๐ค๐ผ
Weโre so thankful to those folks who grant us access to their properties to recover these most excellent resources ๐๐ผ

Itโs a privilege to be able to recover old logs, but itโs especially rewarding when the homeowner is excited.
In this case, the homeowner was hanging on to this wild cherry log for years - waiting for someone willing to work with it. She watched as it was loaded onto the trailer to say goodbye.
We reassured her that weโd share videos and photos of the cherry as we process it from slabs to various woodworking projects ๐ค๐ผ

Huge live oak!
This live oak fell naturally & upheaved the foundation of the this house ๐ฎ If you look close, you can see the cracks in the side of the house.
The trunk is massive - too heavy for our winches. But, we got permission to recover some relatively smaller pieces ๐๐ผ

My first climbing job! ๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธ
These two urban Roanoke oaks kicked my butt!
It took me the greater portion of a day to trim these two oaks (actually more like 1.33 trees - I have to go back & finish the second one ๐)
As I gain confidence in my gear & learn to manage my fear of heights, Iโm sure Iโll become more efficient in the tree.

No bucket truck, no climbing, just a throwline and a plan ๐ค๐ผLow impact, efficient, & productive.
This big piece of deadwood was 14 ft long, 3 inches wide, & 35 ft up in the canopy!

Our first felled walnut!
Normally, logs are on the ground ready to go when we show up. It was a great privilege to have the opportunity to harvest these two black walnuts.
