Meet Parker. He's been part of the Boise Mattress team for a year now, and he's probably the one who'll say hi when you walk in.

Waking up with a stiff neck? Before you blame the mattress, take a look at your pillow.

A pillow's whole job is to keep your head and neck lined up with the rest of your spine. The right height (loft) depends on how you sleep:
- Side sleepers: a firmer, higher pillow that fills the gap between your head and shoulder.
- Back sleepers: a medium loft that supports the natural curve of your neck. Too high can strain it.
- Stomach sleepers: a thin, soft pillow, so your neck isn't pushed too far forward all night.

One tip most people don't think of: bring your pillow when you come mattress shopping. A softer or firmer mattress changes how far your shoulder sinks in, which changes the pillow height you need. We'll look at both together.

Sunday Reset, a 3-step version for your bed:

1. Strip it and wash the sheets and the mattress protector.
2. No protector? Put one on before the sheets go back. It stops spills, sweat, dust mites and allergens from getting into the mattress. (Ours start with the Solis Quiet Comfort, Queen $59 on sale.)
3. If it's been 3 to 6 months, rotate the mattress head to foot while it's bare. It evens out the wear.
