Inspired to learn about Canadian war planes at this wonderful museum in Hamilton, Ontario, where WWII planes are preserved and maintained flight-ready and serve as an educational resource to all visitors. Book a flight on a flying vintage Avro Lancaster, Harvard low wing, Douglas C-47 Dakota, or B-25 Mitchell.
Wooden plane carvings were donated to the museum by Pete Morro.

Among the Redwoods - poem excerpt by Edward Rowland Sill, a 19th century American poet
Listen! A deep and solemn wind on high;
The shafts of shining dust shift to and fro;
The columned trees sway imperceptibly,
And creak as mighty masts when trade-winds blow.
The cloudy sails are set; the earth-ship swings
Along the sea of space to grander things.

Honored to present at the Niagara Woodworking Club about my recent tour of England with a group of Canadian and American wood turners. Tour highlights included mingling with the Peterborough wood turning club in Lower Benefield, visiting MAC Timbers Sawmill, viewing the Hawley Tool Collection at the Kelham Island Museum in Sheffield, and attending the Wizardry in Wood exhibition in London.

My first attempt at making patterns with wood, inspired by yosegi-zaiku, a traditional Japanese woodworking technique. These shapes are pine, but I can easily add other wood species to vary the color palette and combine them into patterns. One thing to watch out for- grain direction. Stay tuned and let's see where this goes...

Vanity Cabinet leg build. One of my first projects as a woodworker was building a contemporary white double-sink vanity cabinet from a rendering created by a kitchen & bath designer. After milling some rough sewn maple, I created the beautiful bead and slotted profiles to frame the leg elements around 1/4" MDF panels. All it needs is some white paint.
