Butter process today! After kiddos went to bed made a small batch of honey/cinnamon butter!
Do you want to know what is SO amazing?!?
EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU CAN MAKE IT TOO.
NO MILK COW NEEDED.
Did you know you can make "farm fresh butter" or homemade butter without having a cow in milk? What if you live in the city or just don't have the animals? Making butter takes less than 30min! It just depends on what all you want to put in the butter. You then preserve it in your fridge or freezer and voila! MUCH healthier and satisfying than store bought.
Comment below 👇 like, share and follow if you want to see an instructional video on how to make butter ! I will post next week ❤️❤️

Experiment time! Several people have asked me how I start seeds.
So I tend to "cheat" and use the Jiffy seed starter trays. They are great because they are like mini green houses and relatively cheap.
I have started smaller seeds, especially herbs, in eggs before because it's economical, eggs are great food for plants and kids love to do it....this year I'm doing an experiment to see if their is any difference in growth. I took seven eggs and eighteen seed discs and planted lavender, chamomile and peppermint. I split everything where some was in each. They are all in the mini greenhouse so same environment. Wonder if they will grow the same 🤔 what are your thoughts?

When do you start your seeds? Do you do one start or multiple? Indoors or outdoors? What are your methods? What type of garden do you have? Please share below 👇
I do two to three seed starts. This is my earliest which is end of february/early March at latest. I debated waiting longer this year just because of the wacky weather but oh well. I start over half of my tomato's, my cabbage, lettuce, broccoli and peppers early because they either love cold weather or they take forever to grow. I use large start kits like these because it's convenient and easy to handle. My herbs I start in egg shells! I find you can really do your large plants in egg shells because the root bulb will erupt out of it.
My garden is a combo of regular old in the ground, to raised beds and also hanging veggies.
More to come 🥰
Happy growing

Best way to spend a Saturday evening! Got a call from one of my best friends that her ewe had a baby stuck and she needed help. They ewe had already delivered a healthy baby ram but now was presenting with only a foot and second foot was far back. I live about five minutes away .
Literally as I was walking down Randi was able to push the little leg just right and it's nose popped into position. Sometimes luck happens! Mom delivered a tiny baby girl that is the CUTEST little thing. We had to assist with colostrum but now both babies are nursing great and mom is a wonderful mom ❤️❤️❤️
Hi everyone! Exciting things coming to Misfit Acres. As I have posted on my main page, our family is working really hard at taking our hobby farm up to the next level but we want y'all to go on the journey with us! Our goal for 2021 is to be 75% food self sufficient by winter 😬😲
Sounds like a huge goal right?!
Well ....it is...
And people always say "I would LOVE to do that but I can't ." Or "I wish I lived on a farm so I could do that" the thing is...those statements are false! You can decrease your reliance on grocery stores exponentially and fill your cabinets with sustainable, healthy meats, veggies, fruits and breads and live in an apartment! You just have to be organized.
I am not this superhuman multitasker that everyone thinks I am . Trust me. My plate is VERY full and I am tired ALOT and many days I sit back and wish I could live in the city....but at the end of the day - it is SO worth it because my kids will grow up the way I did.
My grandparents taught me a lot about growing and preserving. My papaw believed the almanac was second to the Bible. My papaw, with a fifth grade education, rarely bought anything from the store. My grandmas both showed me how to can and freezer my foods. My papaw showed me how to separate cream and make butter.
I didn't appreciate this enough.
Now everyone says they have a "missing piece" in their lives...maybe simplicity is that missing piece.

Starting mid March we will go live with our farm living blog/vlogs where we will teach you the basics to raising farm animals/milking goats/making butter/making cheese/making drinking milk etc ....pickling/canning/fermenting...something's we will be learning ourselves so you will learn with us! We are always open to hearing new ideas . Ground rules will be set out from the beginning and any negativity will be quickly blocked 🙃
***Disclosure: our farm loves all of our animals but our animals do have jobs. They are well loved and cared for. Feel free to ask questions but keep criticism to your self if you do not agree with farming lifestyles. This will be a learning page without controversy ****
