It was truly wonderful working with John and Sue. We share many similar tastes and interests. Also, it was a pleasure to work with John in his shop during construction, we make a good team.

The fireplace casework is built of solid hickory and hickory ply. We decided to salvage and alter the cabinets flanking either side. The hearth was extended and wrapped with hickory and tile. The mantel is rated for an additional 200lbs.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Dr. Dan Bucek. We searched for and designed around 4 potential office suites in the Batavia area before selecting the current location. G3 Construction was awarded the project and contracted out a great majority of the work. MedProperties provided the building along with supplemental CM. Architectural Resources in Geneva, IL provided consultation and stamping.

Dr. Bucek and the Bucek family provided materials by allowing us to salvage their old tool shed and house, dating back as early as the 1890's. The house was renovated in the 50's and 60's. We practiced safe demolition by testing for lead and avoiding all materials potentially containing asbestos. I have always enjoyed re-purposing and designing with old material, it provides an opportunity to make something truly unique.

The rear reception wall and soffit are clad with the boards from the tool shed and miscellaneous casework from within the farmhouse. The vestibule is clad with cedar from an old cedar closet in the house. Both of which were assembled with the client, Dr. Bucek. It's great to have a client that is willing to get there hands a little dirty while adding their own personal touch.

The main signage behind the front desk was designed and installed in collaboration with the fabricator, Robert Duhaime from Bodeche. (http://bodeche.com/).

The wood partitions are made with solid wood doors from the farmhouse. In the center partition, the door's bottom panels were routed out, the door was flipped and glass was installed. The door walls were prepped and installed with the help of Dave Fudacz from DMF woodworks (http://www.dmfwoodworks.com/).
