Counter height and bar height are not the same thing, and almost nothing sold online respects the difference.
Standard kitchen counters run 36 inches. Standard bars run 42. Six inches apart, two completely different chairs, one shared word in the listing: stool.
Our own title manages to contain both phrases, and rounds 25.5 up to 26 while it's at it. So here are the real numbers.
It's backless, which means the published 25.5 inches is the actual seat height with nothing to subtract for a frame.
At a 36 inch counter that leaves 10.5 inches between the seat and the counter top. At a 42 inch bar it leaves 16.5 inches, which is a climb rather than a chair.
Before you buy any stool anywhere, go and measure your own counter. Rentals are not consistent and nobody promised they would be.
