I have finished working on these custom nightstands for a client. The wallpaper in my client's bedroom achieves a moody, modern aesthetic and pairs well with the black satin look. I have also redesigned my logo. Let me know what you think!

I was given the incredible opportunity to breathe new life into this stunning beast of an armoire for a dear friend of mine. It was the first big furniture purchase that she and her husband made as a young married couple, and it held a special place in their hearts. While it was still a beautiful piece, she had grown tired of the dark wood and was ready for a change. And when I say beast, I mean it was so big that no one wanted to move it out of her living room! So for over a month now, I’ve been popping in and out of their home in the evenings, weekends and even while they were out of the country, pouring my heart and soul into this project. I spent about 28 hrs working on this intricate layering process that creates a breathtaking woven linen look, using 8 colors of paint to bring it to life. But now that it’s complete, she’s refreshed and ready to continue being the centerpiece of her lovely family’s lives, inspiring warmth and love in all who enter their home.

I’m so very proud of this restoration project. Not every furniture piece is meant to be painted. Whoever chalk painted this surely did a disservice to the rarity of this desk! You see this is a Beautiful drop leaf writing desk designed by Edward J.
Wormley for Drexel in the United States circa 1940s. This desk is crafted in beautiful elm wood showcasing a rich grain texture that makes a beautiful contrast with the brass handles and stretcher.
Born in Oswego, Illinois in 1907, furniture designer Edward Wormley studied at the New York School of Interior Design via correspondence while still a high school student in Rochelle, Illinois. He went on to study at the Art Institute of Chicago between 1926 and 1928. In 1931, after a tour of Europe (during which time he met Le Corbusier and Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann), he began working for the Marshall Field & Company department store in Chicago as an interior designer.
In the 1930s, Wormley left Marshall Field's to work as a designer for the Dunbar Furniture Company in Berne, Indiana. He designed modern and traditional pieces for Dunbar, and quickly became the company's design director. By 1944, he'd been placed in charge of modernizing Dunbar's furniture lines— a task he accomplished by incorporating modern innovations into traditional designs and championing the midcentury Modernist aesthetic. He stayed with the company nearly four decades, until it was sold in 1970. During his tenure with Dunbar, he designed approximately 150 pieces, many of which merged traditional and modern design for comfortable, everyday usage. Beyond furniture, Wormley also designed fabrics, rugs, and lighting.
During his lifetime, Wormley's work was included in several exhibitions at prestigious institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York (1950); the Boston Museum of Art (1951); the XIII Triennale in Milan (1964); and the Philadelphia Museum of Art (1983).
Wormley's honors include Designer of Distinction from the American Society of Interior Directors in 1982 and the Distinguished Designer Award from the American Society of Furniture Designers in 1986, among others.
Wormley passed away in Connecticut in 1995.
I know he’d be smiling down from above!

I also did the matching buffet. Sanding the old finish off really brought out the beautiful wood grain.

Recreated this lovely heirloom china cabinet for a customer. I just love the wood and navy paint combination.

I started these nightstands quite some time ago but didn’t like the looks of them. I was trying to keep some of the natural wood but it really looked too orange and made it have a rustic feel. I was wanting to make them a little more modern to play on the original chunky brass hardware. I love this juniper green with the wood and gold pulls.

I’m not sure if you remember these pieces or not. My customer sent me pictures of her bedding that she put together with her furniture pieces that I created for her. I had to share the final look. The pink coverlet and floral bird duvet complimented the bed and nightstands perfectly.

I love creating special pieces for kid rooms. Each one is so unique and fun to create. This one was for a customers grandson!
