đ¨ This is why water heater maintenance matters.
What started as a routine service call quickly turned into a conversation about something most homeowners never think about bacteria growth inside plumbing systems and water heaters.
When water sits in the right temperature range for too long, conditions can allow bacteria like Legionella to grow. Thatâs one reason proper water heater setup, maintenance, and operation are so important.
In this video we go over:
âď¸ Why temperature matters
âď¸ Why neglected systems can become a problem
âď¸ What plumbers look for during maintenance
âď¸ Why âsaving energyâ the wrong way can create issues
Most homeowners never hear about this side of plumbing until thereâs a serious problem.

đ¨ This is the kind of thing homeowners never see behind the scenes on plumbing jobs.
We were working 26 floors up in a high rise when we went to shut off the water heater⌠and the shutoff valve literally broke apart.
Luckily we were able to get the main water shut down quickly before it turned into a much bigger problem.
Situations like this are exactly why experience matters in plumbing especially in older buildings and high-rise systems where one small issue can escalate fast.
A lot of the job is being able to react quickly, prevent damage, and solve problems safely when things donât go as planned.

Before calling a plumber for a garbage disposal issue, there are a couple simple things you can try first.
A humming noise usually means itâs jammed, and no noise at all can often be fixed with a reset.
These are two of the first things we check on a service call, and sometimes itâs all it takes to get things working again.
If itâs still not working or you see any leaking go ahead and reach out and weâll take care of it.

Would you warranty this? đ¤
We got called out for a backed up drain here in Saginaw, TX and this is what we pulled outâŚ
A lot of products are labeled âflushable,â but they donât break down like toilet paper and can easily cause blockages like this.
We cleared the line and ran a camera to make sure everything was flowing properly but when items like this are the cause, itâs not something that can be warrantied.
The good news this is one of the most preventable plumbing issues we see.
If youâre dealing with a clogged drain or backup, weâre here to help.

Sometimes plumbing repairs arenât as simple as they look.
This toilet had a broken drain line below the slab, which meant we had to open the floor to make the repair. The goal in situations like this is always the same fix the problem and keep the impact to your home as minimal as possible.
In this case, we made a very controlled access, repaired the line, and kept everything tight so once the toilet is reset, most of this work is completely hidden.
Itâs not always about avoiding the mess itâs about doing it the right way and leaving you with a long term solution.

We replaced this dual water heater setup in Fort Worth after the existing units developed serious corrosion â ď¸
Corrosion like this isnât just cosmetic itâs a sign the system is failing and can lead to leaks or even full tank failure.
We installed two new gas water heaters along with a properly sized expansion tank to make sure the system is safe, reliable, and built to last.
What this homeowner gets now:
âď¸ Reliable hot water
âď¸ Peace of mind (no surprise leaks)
âď¸ A system installed the right way
If your water heater is older or showing signs of rust, itâs worth getting it checked before it turns into a bigger problem.

A recent video about testing T&P valves during water heater maintenance started quite a debate.
Some plumbers say not to touch them because theyâre âone-time useâ⌠so we decided to test one several times.
As you can see, it opens and reseals just like itâs designed to do.
Manufacturers actually recommend testing these valves periodically to make sure they open and reseat properly. If they donât, thatâs when you know the valve needs to be replaced.
If youâre curious to see what a T&P valve looks like when it doesnât work properly, check out the previous video on our page.

Some plumbers argue that you shouldnât test the T&P valve during water heater maintenance because it could start leaking.
But this valve is one of the most important safety devices on your water heater. If it isnât working properly, the tank has no way to relieve dangerous pressure.
In this job, the valve wasnât releasing any water at all meaning it couldnât do its job if it was ever needed. After replacing it, we found buildup that was preventing it from working properly.
This is why we check them during maintenance. Itâs not just about flushing the heater itâs about making sure the safety devices are functioning too.
If youâre in the Fort Worth, Keller, Haslet, Saginaw and surrounding areas and want your water heater maintained the right way, PlumbLogic has you covered.

We found a leaking Qest (polybutylene) water service line at the meter in Fort Worth.
Instead of trenching through the driveway and garage, we performed a water line pull â installing a brand-new line through the existing path with minimal digging.
If your water meter is spinning when no fixtures are running, you may have an underground leak.
