Call

Brian Lee Carpentry I'm a custom woodworker/maker, co-own Gold Pan records, renovate old buildings in our crazy small town and try to be creative.

Since leaving Nashvegas and playing in bands I've gotten to make so many things I never thought would have come across my plate. Ten years ago my wife and I lived in a developing neighborhood in Nashville TN where I worked on flipping and restoring old houses. It was an inspiring time of creativity and hard work helping make an old neighborhood vibrant and exciting to live in again. A lot of jobs and a few children later we now own and are restoring a few old downtown buildings in the small and stirring town of Hillsboro IL. Since moving to this area I've been able to do some of my favorite jobs of my life (in Hillsboro and Greenville) and have felt even stronger about the positive influence of hard work and smart designs and solutions for spaces. I hope that through these picture you can get some ideas of your own and that it will make you want to have me come help at your project!

So Apparently 244 thousand people saw my post about building record bins this week which is insanity... People from England and Canada and all over! I know you guys have got to be hungry for vintage vinyl to fill your bins so here is a serving of the records that my store in Hillsboro, IL is putting out this weekend. Give us a follow if you like and if you ever see something you want shipped ($4).
Not sure I'll ever see this kind of traffic again but I have a lot of fun between my woodworking profile and my store so why not tag along?

Here's two more different bins I did for Gold Pan Records in Hillsboro IL. The left one was unfinished raw I think cottonwood? The one on the right was a cheeky adaptation of an old countertop piece I found.

Thank you everybody!!! Never thought a post about simple record bins would get 176k views in a day! I know the vinyl community is a raging beast (and I'm one of them) but I've never had a post get so much attention. Thanks for all the thoughts and likes and especially sharing photos of what you've made! I'm a full time woodworker in Hillsboro IL (central IL) but also co-own a really cool record shop called Gold Pan Records here (we do ship records if you see anything you want!) I've have built a lot of crazy stuff for it if you want to check it out. I do build commissions for people within driving distance but don't ship at the moment. Thanks for all the build inquiries too!

Here's another-
I built this site specific cd and LP storage from disassembled retail shelving from the 40's that I saved from one of my buddies old buildings and turned it into record bins for my store Gold Pan Records. I mostly make from scratch but love using vintage stuff and making it look like it was this way from the get go.

I Appreciate Dumb Records for giving me the job that got many of you to find me and my thing. Hope you are all well and find all the OG's of your dreams for a dollar at a yard sale like we all hope to do. -Brian Lee
