This is a piece based upon sketches in a colonial furniture book I have. Referred to as a desk box. The body is 15" wide, 8" high and 8" deep. Stands on turned feet. Built from old growth eastern pine, stained, shellaced, varnished and waxed.

Oil candle lamp. The candle is an oil lamp. Base turned to accept the candle and the glass dome.

Sliding lid candle box. This design I modeled after those built by David Hopfer.
Made of tight grained eastern white pine.
Top with a natural finish of orange shellac, rubbed out with furniture wax .
10"x6. 5" x3. 25".
This was one of the demo builds from the gun makers fair.

Months ago I posted a door that I rebuilt for the Danbury Railroad Museum. The installation is finally complete.
When the station building was moved and reassembled the opening ended up bigger than the door. The door frame had to be built out accordingly and a new threshold made.
Door now swings, latches and locks smoothly.

Completed a commissioned bed key.

Today I finalized the work on my latest flintlock. The barrel for this piece is recycled from my first build in 1985. The original 0.45 caliber, 42", 13/16th's octagon was transformed into a 38.5", octagon to round 0.47 smoothbore. Various other components were also recycled. The new stock is a Pecatonica Bucks profile in cherry and the lock is a new deluxe large Siler.
Decorations are a combination of simple inlays, wire and incised carving.
Looking forward to getting it out on the range to work up a load. My hope is to use the same 0.445 round ball I use in my r***e, greatly simplifying my kit.
