What I do now!

A few years ago I decided to become a cruise travel agent. I was hired by a big company that has at least 26 popular cruise sales websites under it's umbrella. I went through the six week training course which was very comphrensive and interesting. Fifty of us began the course and only 20 graduated. I was one of the very few that had ever even been on a cruise! Even my trainer had not been on one! It was a fun experience, I did well, was a top new agent, and enjoyed the job but COVID hit. After taking a step back I realized that I didn't enjoy the way we were told to more or less "hustle" our customer calls. It was hard to build a relationship with our customers because we were only allowed so much time on calls. Everything was monitored, recorded and clocked. We had goals to meet and they had nothing to do with booking a dream vacation for our clients.
Now, I can take the time I want or need to build a relationship and friendship with my clients. I work with an awesome travel agent, Carole Criddle, who took the time to answer all of my questions and address my concerns when we took our first cruise. She's still here for me when I need something and that makes me better!
I enjoy talking about cruises, looking for great deals, and giving advice based on my experiences. This truly is my dream job!
