Smoky Mountain Lions Charities was formed in 2005 solely for charitable purposes including meeting the needs of disadvantaged individuals. .Donations are tax deductible.

Smoky Mountain Lions Charities Mobile Vision Lab Mission #186 Report
On August 19, 2026, the Smoky Mountain Lions Charities Mobile Vision Lab completed Mission #186 in Knoxville. Fifty five people received vision care; 48 received a vision exam, 4 got new glasses on the 19th, 49 will get new glasses in the next 4 weeks and 2 did not need glasses.
Doctors John Dawson MD and Todd Hackney OD led the clinic, supported by 16 Lions volunteers (including 4 Lion professionals), 6 non-Lion professionals, and 2 general support. Members from Farragut Lions Club, Fountain City Lions Club, Inskip Lions Club, Norris Lions Club, Sevier County, Union County, and West Knox Lions Clubs participated.
The next Mobile Vision Lab event is scheduled for September 16, 2026, in Knoxville.

Smoky Mountain Lions Charities Mobile Vision Lab Mission #185 Report
On July 29, 2026, the Smoky Mountain Lions Charities Mobile Vision Lab completed Mission #185 in Sevierville, hosted by the Sevier County Lions Club. Ninety-six people received vision care; 95 will get new glasses within three weeks.
Doctors Larry Zubel and Todd Hackney led the clinic, supported by 16 Lions volunteers (including four Specialists), eight specialists, and 16 general volunteers. The team contributed over 306 service hours, valued at $23,605.
Members from Kingston, Oak Ridge, Sevier County, Union County, and West Knox Lions Clubs participated.
The next Mobile Vision Lab event is scheduled for August 19, 2026, in Knoxville.

Smoky Mountain Lions Charities Mobile Vision Lab Mission #184 Report

On July 17, 2026, the Smoky Mountain Lions Charities Mobile Vision Lab successfully carried out Mission #184 in Knoxville, Tennessee. A total of 54 people received vision care at this event, including 45 who underwent thorough eye exams. One participant only needed a glasses adjustment and left satisfied, while the remaining 53 will receive their new glasses within four weeks.
Medical Staff and Volunteers
Dr. John Dawson, MD, and Dr. Todd Hackney, OD, served as the clinic’s doctors. They were assisted by 13 Lions volunteers, including 4 professionals and 6 additional specialists. Collectively, the team dedicated more than 135 hours of service, amounting to a service value of $11,750.
Participating Lions Clubs
Mission #184 included contributions from the Dandridge, Farragut, Fountain City, Kingston, Knoxville East, Norris, Oak Ridge, Sevier County, and West Knox Lions Clubs.
