Custom menu board I made for the Dustland. Wanted it to look like on old piece for furniture that blended in with the rest of the millwork at the bar so it’s stained red oak again with solid oak faceframe. The main boxes are made from shop plywood to help keep it light. Went with schoolbus yellow plexiglass face to give it a more retro look. Custom letters from the UK to get the correct size, font and color. Learned a lot making this, about LED lighting and letter track. I’m sure this will lead to some new things.

Got a lot of requests for a hardwired version of our Lucky Lounge lamp. I originally designed the Lucky Lounge to fit in with the old wood-grain TVs and electronics in my house and not look “too new”. So after some experimenting and prototyping in the shop, we landed on this design for the hard-wired option. We used real wood veneer, but kinda how old electronics had artificial woodgrain panels or sides, we laminated just the face of the plate. We will offer the other colors of the plug-in Lucky Lounge but this Moapa and Retro Oak combo we just had to try first. 👀

A new custom wood sconce we made, with natural Teak veneer and gloss white laminate. The shade attaches to a custom powdercoated metal fixture with two brass screws. It really puts off a nice glow with the reflective laminate and notched shape of the shade.

This shelving came from a cool experiment. While making a batch of our wall mounted bike racks, we cut one in half and used it in two pieces. Added a solid oak shelf on top and, boom, it worked! The brackets are surprisingly strong for how thin they are, and the curves on them make the shelf look different depending on where you stand.

New lamp alert! It’s actually based off an old prototype from 2012, that Roxy always wanted to put into production. A tricky bend at the back of the arm gives it strength for a longer reach, without needing a brace. Used one of our custom bell shades to provide light in a good amount of space, with a swivel at the back to aim it where you need it. Did this first run in our new “Moapa” brown color to give it a more retro feel, but we will be offering it in a few other finishes as well. Maybe even an all brass option?

Caballero chair and the caballo ottoman, because every cowboy needs a horse. I designed and made this chair at the same time in my shop. I like designing this way, I get very excited once something starts to come together and keep going on it until it either works or doesn’t. It doesn’t always work, this chair came together and ended up working. 🤠 🐴

Making batches, letting my mind wander, and coming up with new designs on the fly—that’s one of the benefits of making everything I design right here in the shop. This molded plywood cabinet concept popped into my head while I was cranking out orders, and honestly, designing this way is what excites me the most. Seriously, thanks for keeping me busy and letting me do what I love every day.

Made a set of shelves with this new bent plywood bracket design I’ve been working on. I’ve been collecting old TVs, VCRs, and other random retro stuff for a while now, setting up this little throwback room, or mid-life crisis room? These shelves ended up being perfect for holding all my old stuff. Stained them to kind of match the other wood grain and fit the vibe of the room.
They’re super minimal, super sturdy, and most importantly just fun to make and see on the wall. Thinking I might put them into production—what do you think? I think I’m gonna do it.
