A new chapter for Origin of Dreams Construction.

Here’s a quick walkthrough of the new workshop — roughly 2,000 sq. ft. dedicated to custom fabrication.

This gives me the room to handle larger and more involved projects properly, from raw material through fabrication, assembly and finishing.

I’m also building out a dedicated 10’ × 16’ finishing/spray area, along with separate working areas for woodworking and metal fabrication.

After more than 30 years working with wood, steel, cabinetry, furniture and architectural fabrication, it feels good having a space that can support the kind of work I want to keep pushing toward.

The shop is already working — and there’s a lot more coming out of here.

A custom bar starts with getting the room right.

We’re preparing this Fort Worth space for a fully custom built-in bar. The work began with laying out the cabinet and appliance positions, adjusting the wall, and framing the opening so the finished installation fits the room cleanly.

The design will bring together satin black cabinetry, brass hardware, Belvedere quartzite, panel-ready appliances, a sink, and glass display cabinets with warm interior lighting.

This is the groundwork before fabrication begins—and every measurement matters.

Monday, this bar moves from the drawing board into the shop.

A project like this takes more than fitting cabinets into a wall. Every appliance, storage area, light, and finish has to work together—and still feel like one clean, custom piece.

This 149-inch built-in will feature black cabinetry with warm brass hardware, glass display cabinets, Belvedere quartzite across the counter and backsplash, and a TV centered in the design. The lower run includes panel-ready beverage and w**e refrigerators, a panel-ready ice maker, a sink with pull-out trash, three drawers, and a pull-out liquor shelf.

I’m looking forward to starting fabrication and sharing the progress as it comes together.

This piece of Oregon Walnut came with a story already buried inside it — including two bullets.

When we started working the timber, we discovered two old bullets embedded in the wood. There’s no knowing how long they had been there, but they became part of the history of the tree before it ever reached our shop.

The slab also still carried the outside edge of the tree. That section was removed, and the remaining boards were carefully laid out so the grain could be mirror-matched, creating one continuous visual flow across the finished mantel.

From there, we built the mantel as a hollow structure, distressed and finished the Oregon Walnut, and constructed a plywood mounting box that was securely fixed to the masonry wall. The finished walnut mantel was then fitted over that structure, giving us a solid installation with all the mounting completely concealed.

Today it went into its final home.

Against the light natural stone, the dark walnut grain and distressed texture became the focal point of the entire fireplace.

From a tree carrying two old bullets to a finished custom mantel — some pieces of wood arrive with their own history. We just get to build the next chapter.

A stone fireplace needed one strong piece to bring the whole room together.

This custom walnut mantel was built with a deep, distressed finish that lets the grain show through and gives the stonework a warm contrast. Designed and made to fit the fireplace, it adds presence without overwhelming the room.
