The fight against mass eviction & displacement at Lil Abner Mobile Home Park continues as residents are taking to the streets in protest daily. The park has 900 mobile homes with thousands of residents — a quarter of City of Sweetwater’s residents.

Residents at Li’l Abner Mobile Home Park in Sweetwater are organizing to fight against mass displacement. According to residents owner Raul Rodriguez, who operates the park through a non-profit and receives significant tax breaks, is pushing residents to accept payouts of $14k and move within 30 days. But just the cost dismantling their homes would be $10k or more.

Take action to support LGBTQ students in Miami & Stop the far-right, Christian Nationalist takeover of our schools! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️❤️💜🖤
For several years local far-right forces like Moms for Liberty, Proud Boys and the Christian Family Coalition with backing from DeSantis have pushed their agenda on Miami schools. First it was protesting against masks during the pandemic, then opposing CRT and in recent years they’ve pushed to bring prayer & religion into schools while backing book bans and opposing any recognition of LGBTQ students as “gender ideology.”
While each battle may seem small and symbolic, these far-right forces are laying the ground work to remake education: forcing right-wing Christian nationalist content into education and using fear and erasure to drive out any mention of race or the existence of LGBTQ people.
Once again the school board will consider a resolution to recognize October as LGBTQ+ History Month (H-10) on Wednesday 9/11. We are supporting the campaign of Miami based LGBTQ visibility and rights group, PRISM .fl, to pressure the school board — will you take a moment to sign the form letter?
If you are interested in attending the board meeting or speaking, see the link below or in our stories. And if you are interested in ongoing parent organizing around this, please drop us a message.

We are excited to share with you this recent Ceasefire Demand Letter. It was endorsed by a majority of graduate students in the Studio Art program at the School of Art and Art History (SAAH) at the University of Florida (UF).
This demand emerged from a self-organizing process within the program, independent of any external organization. Several graduate students felt compelled to contribute towards efforts for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, supporting local, national, and international communities. They were motivated by the lack of a clear stance against the killing of thousands of civilians by the main bodies of UF, including both administrative and most student organizations. This concern led to the creation of this autonomous demand.

Picket line this morning by holding it down in the fight for better wages and working conditions for Starbucks workers everywhere.
11/15/2023
THURSDAY 11/16 — Unionized workers at Miami Springs Starbucks are striking and calling for customers and allies to stand in solidarity with them on Red Cup Day - the company’s biggest sales day of the year - and demand that SBX respect workers’ right to organize a union.
The walkout and strike will be in protest of the unfair firing of one of their partners along with demanding collective bargaining rights, higher wages and an end to forced “captive audience” anti-union intimidation meetings. Workers and supporters will meet outside the store with banners, signs and flyers to engage customers in support of workers and their demands.
