The pandemic proved we could work from home. But does that mean it’s the best way to work?
Remote work showed us what’s possible outside the office. It also highlighted the value of in-person collaboration, connection, mentorship, and culture.
The question isn’t simply, “Can people work from home?” It’s more so “Does the way we work support how the business needs to work?”
That’s where meticulous workplace strategy comes into play.
As Lyric Workplace founder Tim Carroll writes in his new book, Work/Place: “The pandemic proved that we could work from home when we had absolutely no other option. [That doesn’t mean this is the best choice moving forward.]”

Every commercial interiors project eventually hits a problem nobody flagged in advance: a structural surprise, a delayed shipment, a spec that doesn't fit the space the way the drawings said it would.
That's the moment many vendor relationships fall apart. Design blames procurement, procurement blames the installer, and so on. The client is left chasing down who's responsible while the project stalls.
At Lyric, no one is compelled to say “that's not my job.” If it touches the client, Lyric owns it, end to end. One integrated brief, one team, one point of accountability from the first conversation through the years after move-in.
If you’re looking for the most streamlined, efficient process possible, let's talk.

A campus teaches something with every square foot.
Families judge an institution in the first eleven minutes of a tour, long before anyone opens a syllabus. Admissions lobbies, common areas, and residence hall entries carry more recruiting weight than many budgets account for.
Lyric always asks first: what do you need your students and faculty to be able to do, and does the environment make that possible? We understand that utilization data, curriculum goals, phasing, and enrollment strategy shape the brief before specifications.
Customer service reacts, while client experience anticipates. On a campus, that means planning installation around the academic calendar, not negotiating it in July.

More meetings. More emails. More time in the office.
While all are important to a functional team, none of it matters if it isn’t helping people do better work. The real question is: Is the way we work creating meaningful business value?
Confusing activity with impact is how productivity theater takes hold. Workplace strategy starts by looking beyond how busy people are to how effectively the workplace supports the business.
As Lyric Workplace founder Tim Carroll writes in his book, Work/Place, “Confusing ‘busy-ness’ with business value is the essence of productivity theater.”

Nashville’s 16.1% office vacancy rate doesn’t tell the full story.
Nearly 90% of office space delivered since 2020 is expected to be leased by the end of this year. For CRE professionals and brokers, that points to a market where companies are being more selective about where they invest.
The opportunity goes beyond filling square footage. The right workplace can support talent, culture, productivity, and business operations.
For brokers, the conversation is shifting from how much space a client needs to what that space needs to accomplish.
