I don’t talk about this often, but here is my story🌷

In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that kept me homebound and uncertain about my future. I turned to making candles, soaps, small beautiful things, not as a business plan, but as a way to get through the day.

What I found in those quiet hours changed everything. The small rituals I was creating for myself had a compounding effect. My mood lifted. My outlook shifted. I started to understand from the inside what self-care actually means.

But I didn’t just make things. I studied. I learned the science behind every ingredient, the best practices behind every process, the chemistry behind every pour. I became certified, insured, and committed to a standard of craft that I refuse to compromise on.

In December 2020 I launched Sweet Aurora without ever leaving my house.

Today Sweet Aurora is a trademarked, certified, Latina-owned small business made in small batches from our New Jersey studio. We have a growing and loyal customer base both online and at at markets, have been featured by our suppliers, completed an entrepreneurial accelerator program at Rutgers University, and been honored as a Fiserv grant recipient.

… But it started with a candle. And the belief that the smallest moments, taken with intention, can carry you through anything.
