The original Sirocco chair was created in 1964, and it is still handmade in the very same factory built by Arne Norell in the 1960s. A contemporary classic that embodies every aspect of an authentic safari chair.

The Ari lounge chair and ottoman, designed by Arne Norell in 1966, is widely regarded as his most iconic and luxurious creation. Renowned for its sculptural elegance and exceptional comfort, the Ari became an enduring symbol of Scandinavian design.

The design also made its way to the silver screen, appearing in The Romantic Englishwoman, where it furnishes the grand living room of Lewis (Michael Caine) and Elizabeth (Glenda Jackson). The Ari chair is featured prominently throughout several key scenes, with Lewis frequently seen seated in it.

Crafted in premium Scandinavian leather and paired with a refined chrome-plated steel frame, the Ari embodies the perfect balance of softness, strength, and timeless sophistication.

In 1970, Arne Norell with his daughter, Marie Norell—the woman who would later carry the torch of Norell Design. Building upon her father’s vision, she created celebrated classics of her own, including Leo, Cicci, Celina, Paris, and many others. Today, she continues to preserve and evolve the Norell legacy, making it one of the few remaining Swedish family-owned furniture makers where every piece is conceived through original, in-house design—a tradition passed from one generation to the next.
