Urban Maker Space New York

In short: UMS is a company that wants to provide Co-making and private studios equipped with tools and machinery to enable professionals and amateurs to ‘create’. But what does that really mean? Let’s break it down:

UMS | What is It? What is UMS, or Urban MakerSpace? What does the space look like, where will it be used for? Etc. Those are the questions I want to answer in this article.

We're working on some renders of what Urban Maker Space will look like.

With a coffee-shop/community area in the front, the co-making space in the back, the private studios along the side and a room in the back for the heavier machinery to reduce noise disruption and increase safety for all members.

It's still a draft, but it might give you a better idea of what we're striving for.

We want to make it easier for professionals and amateurs to 'make' by providing them with private and co'maker spaces, tools and equipment and the knowledge to pull it off.

We offer private studios - to fully equipped, shared workspaces. For the first half of this article, I’ll outline what my idea is and why I want to pursue this. The second half I’ll talk more about the business model behind it and how it will work.
