Today we honor what would have been Emmett Till's 85th birthday. Though his life was tragically cut short at just 14 years old, Emmett's story continues to inspire generations to confront injustice, seek truth, and work toward a more just future.
This year we're honoring Emmett not only by remembering his legacy, but by celebrating his life. In Sumner, Mississippi, we're gathering for a community bike ride with local youth, one of Emmett's favorite pastimes, at the Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument. As children ride through the community, we hope to honor the joy, curiosity, and promise that Emmett held and his mother, Mamie, committed to sharing with the world.
We invite you to visit the Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument to learn more about Emmett and Mamie's stories, reflect on their enduring legacy, and recommit to the ongoing work of remembrance, truth, and storytelling. npca.org/till
