Five random facts that I didn’t know until I become a homeowner:
1. You’re not supposed to hang dry things in the laundry room because it’s generally a moist room. This can can cause mold, mildew, and musty smells. Instead, hang dry in large open air spaces.
2. Baking soda is a miracle stain remover! It cleans and removes stains on carpets, upholstery and marble. Add warm water and baking soda to a bowl until it forms a paste. Spread t over the stain, let it sit, then wipe away!
3. Your washing machine’s soap dispenser tray needs to be removed to be emptied and cleaned properly. Water collects and it can easily grow mold.
4. In my house, dish towels are changed every single day. Once they get wet, they are primed to collect mold and bacteria. Keep your hands and your dishes clean and change them out every 24 hours.
5. If you ever smell a musty or sulphur smell in your laundry room, it’s likely your washing machine filter. It collects water, debris and hair and needs to be emptied and cleaned every 1-3 months. Just make sure to have a pan ready to collect the gross drain water!

Guest room closets tend to be a dumping ground — old furniture, leftover wallpaper and decor items go there and get forgotten about.
Guests don’t really need a ton of hanging space and we’re ALL about using the storage you have, but this doesn’t mean those closets need to be scary. It also doesn’t mean you need to overhaul shelving or build a totally new system to have it function for both.
Start by EDITING and then use clear, consistent bins with labels to create a basic system and get everything off the floor and off your shelving.
Not all our work is sexy spaces and huge overhauls, we love solving everyday problems for people just like us!
