A customer recently asked us to design and craft a custom frame for an antique stained glass panel they had sourced from Peoria Architectural Salvage LLC.
We consulted several times, reviewed 3D models I created to help visualize the proposed solution, and together settled on the final approach. The challenge was both the technical ex*****on as it was creating a frame that would complement the stained glass without competing with it. To help get the proportions just right, we also brought in a graphic designer to help evaluate the overall sizing and visual balance.
The result is a custom-designed and machined 2-inch-thick solid walnut frame. Its substantial visual weight gives the piece the presence it deserves, while recessed acrylic strips virtually disappear into the frame, securely holding the glass in place without distracting from it.
The rest of the frame was designed around the glass as well, incorporating the existing stabilizing rods attached to the back of the glass and customer provided lighting modules, attached to a backing board keeping everything clean and understated.
The finished project was delivered today, and we’re very pleased with how it came together. Most importantly, our customer is thrilled with the result.
