First board meeting of the year. Right on schedule.

The last visuals of the year have hit the screen. A huge debt of gratitude is owed to all of the people who employ me and work with me, all of whom I count as friends. Now I'm off to reap the perks of my job- a day and a half to take in Dublin. Peace.

These are my Show Day shoes. I don't think they need explanation.

in June of 1995 I got hired at Maritz to be a production coordinator for an Infiniti Dealer Meeting and consumer event Square Garden. It was my first job in Corporate Events. In July of 1995 I went on my first site survey- we stayed at the Sheraton New York (key is represented in this stack). I had no idea at the time that my travels would continue for another twenty years. These are all of my hotel room keys from work related travel. There are approximately 320, which averages out to 16 hotels per year. If each trip is an average of 7 days that means that out of the past 20 years, I've spent about 6 years on the road.

a producer friend of mine sent this link to me over a month ago. today, when i had about 10 other priorities I remembered that i hadn't watched it. so i stopped what i was doing, and it turned out to be the most important 20 minutes of my day.

About to hit the road for six weeks. we have rehearsals in Nashville then show in Dallas, a quick one day turnaround and then it's off to Cupertino for the entire month of June. I have no idea how i'm going to manage laundry and life, but I know it will get managed. Simone picked out some great work and travel clothes for me so that I will look and feel confident- which is going to be an important factor in keeping my spirits up and my enthusiasm at appropriate levels. the good news is that i will be with a great bunch of work colleagues and god knows there will be stories to tell. deep breath.

some of you may know that although i've been a graphic designer for many years now, until recently I was completely incapable of drawing. many of my artist friends assured me that ANYONE can learn to draw. they were right! I don't practice enough, but at least I am in possession a some fundamentals. this was done on an airplane after a visit with my 87 yr. old uncle.
