We get a lot of questions about donations, so hopefully this will help.
We are a FOR PROFIT Thrift Store - this means if you choose to bring your items to us - there is no tax write off available. While we have opened our doors to accept donations, we also buy our inventory through estate purchase or auction. WE DO NOT BUY INDIVIDUAL PIECES/ITEMS. WE DO NOT PAWN/LOAN, WE DO NOT DO CONSIGNMENT, WE DO NOT BUY CLOTHING (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF FORMALS SOMETIMES DEPENDING ON INVENTORY LEVEL). WE DO NOT PICK UP LEFT OVER GARAGE SALE ITEMS, AND WE DO NOT MAKE OFFERS ON ITEMS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN PUT OUT FOR SALE ON SOCIAL MEDIA SITES.
WE DO NOT DO CONSIGNMENT OF ANY KIND.
We accept donations anytime we are open. Our Hours are Tuesday - Friday from 11:30 am to 5:30PM and Saturdays from Noon to 5pm
While most of the time all donations are accepted and tend to be clothing/bedding - we do require the following - any linens/clothing must be laundered, we do not have laundering facilities so this is a something we must ensure. We will not accept items that are soiled, show signs of pet hair, or smell of smoke. We may ask to inspect the items before bringing them in specifically if it's something that's been in storage - occasionally stored items can attract insects and rodents which can leave droppings and we must avoid that.
We do not accept large exercise equipment of any kind - no bikes, gym benches, Nordic tracks, gliders etc.
We do not accept building materials such as doors, fencing, windows, etc. again we don't have the space for such items.
Beds - with health and safety risks we have strict rules - beds must come from a pet free/smoke free home and we must visit the home it's coming from. There may be no bodily stains on it either. The weight of a mattress will without a doubt tell us the age of a mattress and therefor will help determine if we can accept it. - our golden rule with beds - if we wouldn't sleep on it, we won't bring it in.
Aside from that, we occasionally have to turn away items simply because we are full and can't accept any more.
Currently those items are:
Books - of any kind -not accepting
Stuffed animals - of any kind - not accepting
Punch Bowls - Not accepting
Winter boots - not accepting
Winter coats - not accepting
Work out equipment - permanently do not accept
Building materials - permanently do not accept
We are thankful to have a spot that allows us to help others out, and can keep things out of the landfill, but we do have to regulate what comes in, which is why we must have these guidelines in place.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE DONATIONS OUTSIDE OUR DOORS ANYWHERE ON THE PROPERTY OUTSIDE OF OUR BUISNESS HOURS. DUE TO OUR LOCATION, ITEMS MAY BE STREWN ABOUT THE PARKING AREA, BECOME SOILED, AND CREATES AN UNHEALTHY ENVIRONMENT AND ISN'T A GOOD LOOK FOR THE COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION, IT MAY BE ITEMS WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING. LEAVING THESE ITEMS INCREASES COST FOR DISPOSAL.
