SA Guild Familiarization (FAM) Trip!

How fitting to start Halloween Day off with a tour of the Eastside Cemeteries.

Our own Bruce Martin took a few of our members for a stroll through the grounds while sharing stories of those buried within. Many familiar names for local history buffs - Bullis, Maverick, West, Giles, Drisoll...to name but a few.

SA Guild Fam Trip!

Today's Familiarization Trip (Fam Trip) took us to the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. It was a beautiful morning strolling the grounds with Allison, Director of Adult Learning.

Of course, the gardens are decked out for Dia de lost Mu***os.

Thank you Allison and SA Botanical Gardens for the wonderful tour!

Do you have Alameda Theater memories?

We want to capture your stories about the historic Alameda Theater in downtown San Antonio. This movie palace was one of the largest Spanish-language movie theaters in the country and provided Mexican Americans with a luxury experience at a time of widespread segregation. It's an amazing part of our American history!

Bring your stories to be recorded by our videographer and your photos, newspaper clippings, or other memorabilia to be scanned.

April 2026 Guidelines -

04/19/2026

Next Saturday, April 25th, the Professional Tour Guide Association is hitting the streets for the spectacular King William Fair. We are thrilled to be the 15th parade entry in this year's mouth-watering theme: "The Great San Antonio Bakeoff". Our entry journeys back to the rugged, open plains to celebrate the era of the Cattle Drives and Chili Queens. To bring this frontier history to life, keep an eye out for our eight vibrant, 20" x 30" placards marching down the route. Each board highlights a different piece of the puzzle—spanning the legendary cattle trails, the mechanics of the wagons, and the legendary plazas where the Chili Queens pioneered our city's original street food scene with their authentic, stick-to-your-ribs recipes.
