Our 2019 Alamo Model UN Conference was a success! Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible: delegates, staff, chairs, Dr. Hofferberth, and the UTSA Political Science Department.
We would like to extend our thanks to our guest speakers, Warren Tichenor and Patricia Diaz Dennis! It was an honor to have them speak with us and we hope they enjoyed their time at UTSA.

This past weekend, the Model United Nations Society, in partnership with the Department of Political Science and Geography, hosted the 2018 Alamo Model United Nations Conference. The conference included four committees: UN Security Council (SC), UN Historical Security Council, UN Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and UN International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF). The SC discussed small arms reduction, weapons of mass destruction proliferation, and naval conflicts and territorial disputes. The historic SC discussed the Yugoslavian crisis set in the year 1992. UNODC discussed firearm prevention, s*x trafficking, and the opioid crisis. UNICEF discussed the rights and needs of transgender children, children with disabilities, and HIV/AIDS prevention. All committees were successful in passing at least one resolution throughout the duration of the conference, and all delegates successfully developed public speaking, diplomacy, and group collaboration skills. While the conference left all delegates, staff, and chairs tired, the weekend was very rewarding. The Model United Nations Society would like to thank all who participated for their effort, and invite everyone to consider attending the 2019 Alamo Model United Nations Conference next fall.
