This project is cruising along… almost to drywall, and then we will start seeing all the beautiful finishes start going in!! Can’t wait to share this one with you- so much thoughtful attention to detail went into this project. She’s gonna be (almost) as stunning as the view!

A foyer can set the tone & vibe for your home. As you see in our last post, we worked with wall placements and finishes to create an architectural statement that makes this house unique and special. The stone wall stands proud on the exterior and carries into the foyer, wraps the thickened wall framing out the bar- and then visually continues out the front window. We integrated a bench with hidden storage, concealed the garage door and powder bath and added an accent mirrored wall with stone shelf. Straight ahead upon entering the home- your eye travels out to the central courtyard adorned with a tranquil water feature, lush greens, outdoor dining, views and access to various areas of the home as well as a staircase up to the rooftop where you have 360 degree views of ocean, downtown San Diego and the La Jolla area. These types of homes live well in a climate like Southern California- on most days of the year- this house can live with its large windows and doors open, blurring the lines between indoors and out while giving you truly an amazing space to call home.

We love to be involved as early as possible on all our projects, but especially with new builds. This always yields the best results as we are able to creatively collaborate with the architects to develop something truly special that works from the inside out and vice versa. On this custom home, we selected the exterior finishes and made architectural tweaks and adjustments that created a seamless flow from the interior to exterior. This was particularly critical on this home with its heavy use of full height windows and doors and lots of visual connectivity to the outside.

Smaller scaled bathrooms can still have fun too!😌

You can’t always explain great design— but you know it when you feel it.

When designing this staircase, our goal was to achieve visual transparency without compromising on architectural style. The bronze glass we chose adds a touch of sophistication and really makes the space pop. It's a material we often incorporate into our projects, as it brings a sense of warmth and depth that's hard to get with clear glass. To maintain a sleek look, we topped the glass rail with a bronze metal handrail and extended the clean lines all the way down to the bottom step. The full panel glass wall was key to enclosing the stairwell while keeping it visually connected to the surrounding area.

We’re getting close to completion on this La Jolla traditional home renovation- We reworked most of every inch of this home and replaced the old with new but worked to maintain its original charm & character! Here’s a look at the kid’s bathroom we outfitted with a classic stripe wall tile, trimmed with classic Carrara marble touches. Coming together and looking oh-so-cute! ☺️
