We could've had clean energy fifty years ago. Instead, activists convinced a generation that the safest, most efficient power source ever developed was too dangerous to use.
The environmental movement in the 1970s successfully blocked nuclear energy expansion across the West. Their victory meant decades of continued dependence on coal and natural gas.
The carbon emissions from those fossil fuels dwarf anything nuclear power would've produced. Air pollution from coal plants alone claims the lives of tens of thousands of people annually. Nuclear's death toll from accidents, even including Chernobyl and Fukushima, doesn't come close.
France ignored the panic and proceeded with building nuclear infrastructure. Today, they have some of the cleanest electricity in Europe and lower energy costs. Germany listened to the activists, shut down nuclear plants, and ended up burning more coal while paying higher prices.
The countries that rejected nuclear power in the name of environmentalism have created far worse environmental outcomes than those that have embraced it.

The best way to avoid believing things simply because they are repeated is to be aware that this may be happening and to continue to question why something is being said. We want to know WHY we believe something and have the evidence to back it up. Regardless, staying curious is always key so we can change our minds as needed.
As a side, earlier this year, we posted this quote and some folks mentioned we shouldn't quote Sowell, suggesting they don't agree with him on many things. This is a great reminder that, in many cases, focusing on the content of what someone says is more important than focusing on them. Leave the emotions and judgments aside, respond to the content.

Truth is something that cannot be denied, no matter how much we try to suppress or distort it. In a world full of lies, propaganda, and misinformation, the truth has a way of emerging, no matter how hard we try to bury it. George Orwell’s timeless words remind us that the truth doesn’t disappear because we choose to ignore it. It persists, patiently waiting for the moment when we are ready to confront it.
We often find ourselves rejecting the truth when it challenges our beliefs or contradicts the narratives we’ve been told. But this denial only leads to a deeper divide between reality and perception. The truth cannot be shaped or controlled, and while we may try to avoid it, it will always rise to the surface, demanding to be seen and understood.
There is power in accepting the truth, even when it is uncomfortable or inconvenient. The truth empowers us to make informed decisions, to take responsibility for our actions, and to live authentically. When we deny the truth, we deny ourselves the opportunity to grow, to learn, and to change. The truth offers clarity, direction, and the potential for transformation.
In today’s world, where misinformation spreads easily and truth is often distorted, it is more important than ever to seek the truth for ourselves. We must be vigilant in our search for reality, questioning what we’re told and looking beyond the surface. It is only through this active pursuit of truth that we can hope to build a society that is informed, fair, and just.
While it may be tempting to deny the truth, doing so only leads to suffering. By embracing the truth, no matter how challenging it may be, we open ourselves to a brighter future. The truth, no matter how much we resist it, will always find its way to the surface. It is in this truth that we find the freedom to live authentically and build a better world. 🌍🔍

“Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment — because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.” — George Bernard Shaw
Shaw reminds us that common sense often feels like a burden, not a blessing. When you see things clearly, you also notice how often others overlook the obvious. His point isn’t superiority—it’s the quiet challenge of patience, understanding, and navigating a world that doesn’t always think ahead.
