A Few Thoughts on Authenticity and Letting Go
I was stressed during this photoshoot.. the house wasn’t clean enough.. my clothes were not fitting right.. the plants are dead or dying.. my nails were all chipped.. At 5 weeks postpartum, I was feeling vulnerable in a way I had not prepared for. But if I’m honest... had I cleaned the house for 5 more hours, it wouldn’t feel clean enough. The outfits would never look good enough. The bar I set for myself would remain unattainable.
So we leaned in. There is mess and crooked light fixtures and dead plants and chipped nails.. its all there.. exposed. But it’s real. And that authenticity is increasingly harder to find in these online spaces, making it feel all the more significant. There was something freeing about allowing the chaos. And I believe there is value in sharing realness with others.. now, maybe more than ever. Life is messy. Let's share it anyway.
“Let it be unpolished and messy and true.”
