❤️ After 20+ years of military service, I think I'm finally ready to call someplace home.

I've spent a good part of my adult life packing boxes, saying goodbyes, and starting over somewhere new. And while I wouldn't trade my years of service or the experiences that came with them, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't ready for a slower pace and a little more time with the people I love.

Starting this weekend, we're heading from Pennsylvania back home to Tennessee. This will be my 21st move, and I'm hoping with everything I've got that it's my last!

Over the years, military life has meant missing birthdays, holidays, family get-togethers, ballgames, and those everyday moments you don't realize how much they mean until you've missed them. I'm looking forward to being present for the little things, making new memories, and enjoying time with family without wondering where life will take us next.

And, of course, I'm looking forward to continuing something I truly love, Almost Forgotten 23.

Taking old, overlooked, and forgotten pieces and giving them new life has become a real passion of mine. Whether it's furniture restoration, CNC woodworking, or laser engraving, I can't wait to get back to creating.

But first, we have a home to settle into and a workshop to get back up and running.

Things will be a little quiet around here for a while. I'll check in from time to time, but I won't be doing much until we're settled.

So hang in there with me, folks! I genuinely appreciate everyone who has followed along, supported my work, shared my projects, or simply stopped by with a kind word. It means more than you know.

After all these years, I'm ready to spend less time packing up memories and more time making them.

21 moves is enough for one lifetime! 😂

🪵🔥 FOUR CARVINGS. FOUR STORIES. ONE PASSION FOR BRINGING WOOD TO LIFE!

There's something incredible about taking a solid piece of hardwood and transforming it into something that tells a story.

Here at Almost Forgotten 23, that's exactly what I love doing! Whether it's a piece that celebrates heritage, captures the beauty of nature, represents faith, or preserves a precious family memory, every carving has its own meaning.

I've recently completed these four CNC wood carvings, and I'd love to hear what everyone thinks!

🪓 1️⃣ NATIVE AMERICAN TOMAHAWK

Carved from beautiful spalted beechwood, this piece features a Native American tomahawk design. The natural spalting, unique grain patterns, and rustic edges give this carving a character all its own.

📏 Dimensions: 9 inches tall × 8 inches wide × ¾ inch thick.

🍄 2️⃣ WOODLAND MUSHROOM

A little piece of the forest brought to life in wood!

This detailed CNC carving features a woodland mushroom surrounded by ferns, forest textures, and a snail. From the mushroom's intricate gills to the tiny details throughout the forest floor, there's something new to notice every time you look at it.

The natural wood grain adds another layer of character that simply can't be replicated with mass-produced decorations.

✝️ 3️⃣ JESUS CHRIST, CROWN OF THORNS

A powerful piece representing faith, sacrifice, and devotion.

Carved from beautiful flame elder wood, this design captures Jesus wearing the crown of thorns. The facial expression, flowing hair, beard, and individually carved details of the crown create remarkable depth.

The natural character of the wood complements the design, making this a meaningful piece of Christian artwork.

UPDATE: Redeemed - SOLD

🔥 FOUR DESIGNS. FOUR STORIES. ONE CHANCE TO OWN EACH ONE. 🔥

These are some of the newest pieces to come out of the Almost Forgotten shop, and I wanted each one to feel like more than just an engraving. Every design is packed with tiny details, hidden elements, depth, and symbolism that you notice more of the longer you look at it.

🍄 Higher Ground brings you into a surreal world of towering mushrooms, celestial skies, waterfalls, and a lone old traveler tucked into a landscape that almost feels like another dimension.

🐺 Between Worlds follows a lone wanderer beneath the moon phases, surrounded by the wolf, raven, mountains, and wilderness. It has that feeling of standing somewhere between the world you know and whatever might be waiting beyond it.

💀 Soul Bound is darker and more emotional. Two souls locked together beneath a massive moon, surrounded by roses, skulls, gothic architecture, and a distant castle. Love, death, and eternity all wrapped into one piece.

✝️ Redeemed is probably the most powerful of the four. Christ wearing the crown of thorns reaches toward a lone figure below, with the path ahead leading upward through a massive heavenly landscape.

Each of these is an original one-off design. Once a piece sells, I will not reproduce that design again. The person who buys it will own the only one I make.

🔥 This one deserves a closer look.

There’s something about taking a raw piece of wood and slowly watching an image come alive that never gets old. This piece brings together two powerful subjects, a Native American warrior and a wolf, carved into the wood with layers of depth, texture, and detail.

What I love most is how the natural grain becomes part of the artwork. Look closely at the feathers, the face, the wolf’s fur, and especially the areas where the grain and color variations run straight through the carving. No two pieces of wood will ever produce exactly the same result, and that’s exactly why I enjoy making these.

I’ve been pushing myself more and more with the CNC lately, experimenting with deeper reliefs, finer details, and ways to make a flat piece of lumber feel almost three-dimensional.

🐦‍⬛💀 THE RAVEN'S REQUIEM

Some pieces are meant to be beautiful. Others are meant to tell a darker story.

Just finished this custom order for a client, and I couldn't be happier with how the details turned out!
Carved from beautiful Flame Elder wood, this Victorian Gothic inspired relief features a watchful raven perched upon a weathered human skull, surrounded by twisted branches and blooming roses.

The intricate CNC carving brings every feather, petal, and bone to life, while the rich, dark antique finish allows subtle reddish tones of the wood to peek through. Depending on how the light hits it, the entire piece takes on a different appearance.

This is exactly why I love creating pieces that are a little outside the ordinary!
