Have you ever asked a professional for help and walked away feeling completely unheard?
That’s where one of my clients was when she called me. 🤎
She was moving into a larger lake house and needed help bringing her existing pieces and new furniture together.
One designer suggested leaning fully into the home’s mid-century architecture. Another recommended a major remodel.
Neither was necessarily bad advice. It just wasn’t right for her.
So before I designed anything, I listened.
I toured her current home and learned what she actually loved: natural wood, marble, leather, metal, collected pieces from her travels, and things with stories behind them.
Then we walked through the lake house.
At one point I asked, “Will knocking down that wall and remodeling bring you joy?”
Her answer was immediate: “No.”
Then we don’t need to knock down the wall.
Good design isn’t about forcing your home—or you—into a certain style. It’s about figuring out how the house, the pieces you love, and the way you want to live can work together.
Sometimes the best design starts with a floor plan.
Sometimes it starts by simply listening. 🤎
