When I told someone I was going to be designing for the Department of Justice their response was “I hope you like mahogany”.

And guess what. I love mahogany.

I also love this historic building, the courtyard, the 50+ murals, terrazzo floors, and countless aluminum art deco features. I consider myself lucky to have worked in this building that plays such a critical role to our country and design spaces that support the department’s mission. This place will always be special to me and leaving is bittersweet.

It took months of planning, drawing and collaboration to get this space just right and it certainly paid off. Who wouldn’t feel like a queen getting ready here every morning?! 🦜

This primary bathroom got a serious upgrade from builder grade to oasis 🙌

We eliminated the linen closet to create room for a *huge* built-in custom storage unit in a gloss finish to make this small-but-mighty bathroom meet our client’s daily needs.

Bathrooms are a tricky business because they involve so many trades and experts in a small but critical space for homeowners. Thankfully we have an incredible team and now this room checks all the boxes!

More scenes from this stunning cabin in the mountains. Both structures (guest house and main house) were built in the 1960’s but the bardwood used is from 1770 as you’ll see carved into one of the beams.

The stained glass was unexpected but one of my favorite features of the property 😍

It’s hard to believe we’ve enjoyed our outdoor kitchen for an entire summer already ☀️

The materials were carefully chosen to coordinate with the existing hardscapes throughout the yard, roof, decking, and other natural elements surrounding the space. We chose a high contrasting splitface ledgestone and durable leathered granite for a modern touch but made sure not to go too dark since the surface bakes in the sun all day!

Thrilled to embark on a new home-flipping adventure with my amazing business partners. This century home was nearly falling down when we bought it (swipe for sad before photo) and is now restored to its historic charm with soaring 10’ ceilings and a large front porch. We were able to salvage the original railing and oversized trim which warms my purist heart ♥️ This is a perfect home for a young family looking to live near downtown Norfolk!
