Star Lumber enjoyed being a part of this year’s Wichita Corporate Challenge thanks to Wichita Sports Commission! It was a great opportunity to get our team together, try something new, and have some fun outside of work—all while playing for a good cause.

Here's a little to some of our favorites through the years.

1. Greater stiffness. Engineered lumber is designed to resist bending under loads. The stiffer the structural member, the less it deflects—or sags.

2. Fewer natural defects
Dimensional lumber can have knots, grain variations, and other natural imperfections that affect strength. Engineered lumber is manufactured for more predictable performance.

3. Optimized design
Products such as I-joists and LVLs are engineered to put material where it provides the most structural benefit. This allows them to carry loads efficiently over longer spans.

4. Longer spans
Engineered lumber can often span greater distances while maintaining acceptable deflection, making it useful for open floor plans, large openings, beams, headers, and floor systems.
