R.A. Woodcraft is a Cape Town-based bespoke furniture and joinery studio shaped by three principles: craftsmanship, integrity and sustainability.

Founded by Rudolf Zuidema, a classically trained joiner who once competed for South Africa at the World Skills Olympics, the team produces custom furniture, kitchens and built-in pieces using a blend of traditional techniques and modern German machinery.

We are excited to have them onboard as a SAFI member who is wanting to better our industry.

Skills development in the furniture industry is no longer just a compliance checkbox; it is one of the most strategic moves a manufacturer can make right now.

Through QCTO workplace accreditation, your business becomes an officially recognised training environment, where you can host learners for Work Integrated Learning, upskill your existing workforce against nationally recognised qualifications, and access FP&M SETA funding to make it happen.

With 2027 on the horizon as a key milestone for the Furniture Industry Master Plan, the window to get accredited, secure funding, and build your talent pipeline is open right now. SAFI walks alongside manufacturers through every step of the process, from documentation and application preparation through to implementation, so you are never navigating it alone.

If your business is ready to take this step, or you simply want to understand what it involves, get in touch with us today at [email protected].

From their factory in Roodepoort, this family-run business designs and crafts bespoke wooden furniture. Every piece is designed around the person who'll live with it.

That's the kind of maker we're proud to have a part of the SAFI community.

The first SAFI furniture manufacturing meetup happened and it was exactly what this industry needed.

R.A Woodcraft opened their workshop in the Western Cape on 22 April, and we spent the afternoon talking honestly about processes, struggles, and wins. No presentations or jargon. Just manufacturers in a room being real with each other.

This is the first of many.

Great design doesn't happen by accident. It takes vision, craft and people who genuinely care about the spaces they create.

Grandeur Interiors & House is the perfect example of that. From custom furniture and bespoke bed linen to scatter cushions and full interior design, they handle it all under one roof.

If you can picture it, they can build it.

LHT Furniture Manufacturers in Gauteng is proving that real investment in people goes far beyond a budget line. Since beginning their QCTO workplace accreditation journey in 2025, they've built a dedicated training space, introduced monthly health and safety sessions, and are already upskilling their team with Excel training this week.

Once accreditation is granted, LHT will be equipped to offer learnerships and internships, creating meaningful entry points into the industry for unemployed people in their community. SAFI has been alongside them throughout the entire process, and we couldn't be prouder of how far they've come.

This is what building the future of our industry looks like, and your business can do it too. Reach out to us at [email protected] to find out how we can support your accreditation journey.
