PAINTING TIPS :

WHAT TYPE OF PAINT IS BEST ?

There are two types of paint : oil based (known for its sheen) and water based paint. Nowadays there's no need to use oil based when painting a room. Modern water based options, which dry faster and have less odour, offer plenty of gloss and wipeability. As for paint finishes, you can't fail with a matt or eggshell finish on walls and a satin finish on trims. When purchasing paint be sure to stick with brand names, bargain paints can yield disappointing results.

COLOUR PSYCHOLOGY : COLOURS ARE KNOWN TO AFFECT YOUR MOOD

Perhaps an interesting concept to bear in mind when choosing paint colours

BLACK denotes authority and power while WHITE portrays innocence and purity. White is still the most popular decorating colour whith its light, neutral and versatile properties. RED is our most emotionally intense colour, it attracts attention so works as a good accent and is believed to enhance appetite. BLUE is its opposite, with calming and productive effects. GREEN is another popular decorating colour as it is easy on the eye, calming and refreshing. YELLOW on the other hand is cheerful, speeds metabolism and enhances concentration. PURPLE denotes luxury, wealth and sophistication whilst BROWN with its earthy properties is solid and reliable.
