Mozart and Munich
Munich has a long Mozart tradition: he visited the city eight times, premiered “La finta giardiniera” there in 1775, and returned in 1781 for the premiere of “Idomeneo” at the Cuvilliés Theatre.

In the 2026/27 season, this legacy continues on Munich’s stages. The Bavarian State Opera presents “The Magic Flute,” “Don Giovanni,” “The Abduction from the Seraglio” and “Idomeneo.” The Gärtnerplatztheater celebrates Mozart with “The Magic Flute” and “The Marriage of Figaro.”

Mozart remains a living part of Munich’s operatic tradition.

Bella Musica Mozarteum: Music as Europe’s Language of Peace

Bella Musica Mozarteum has concluded its acclaimed 2026 Italian tour. A special highlight was the ensemble’s appearance at the Vatican, where the young musicians accompanied the entrance of Pope Leo XIV with Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik before an audience of around 15,000 people.

With Mozart’s childhood violin and his Dalla Costa concert violin, the ensemble brought the composer’s musical legacy to life at historic locations across Italy, building bridges through culture, exchange and shared European values.
