💶 Albania's financial integration continues
Following Albania's accession to SEPA, the Banka e Shqipërisë has announced the next milestone: a new instant payment system, TIPS Clone, expected to launch in November.
Based on a clone of the European TARGET Instant Payment Settlement (TIPS) platform, the infrastructure behind real-time payments across Europe, the new system will enable bank transfers to be completed in seconds, 24/7, at very low cost for citizens and businesses.
According to the Bank of Albania, broader adoption of electronic payments through the system could generate annual savings of up to ALL 38 billion for the Albanian economy.
Together with SEPA membership, this marks another concrete step toward aligning Albania's payment infrastructure with European standards and strengthening the country's economic ties with Europe.

⚡Albania and Germany strengthen cooperation in the energy sector
Albania and Germany have signed three cooperation agreements worth approximately €114 million, comprising €90 million in loans and €24 million in grants. Supported by the German Government and KfW, the agreements, signed between Albania's Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy Ministria e Infrastrukturës dhe Energjisë and the German Ambassador, will finance three strategic initiatives:
🔹 Digitalisation and automation of Albania’s electricity transmission network, improving substation connectivity and grid management
🔹 Rehabilitation of the 250 MW Vau i Dejës Hydropower Plant, one of Albania’s most important publicly owned energy assets
🔹 Energy-efficient renovation of the Qyteti Studenti dormitories in Tirana, financed through a €24 million grant to improve students' living and learning conditions while reducing energy consumption
These investments represent another important step towards a more modern, efficient and sustainable energy system in Albania. They may also create future opportunities for Austrian companies offering expertise and technologies in grid digitalisation, hydropower modernisation, engineering services and energy-efficient construction.

🏭 One of Europe's largest super-hybrid power plants has opened in Austria.
The site combines more than 100 wind turbines with a photovoltaic installation spanning around 50 hectares. A battery system stores excess electricity and feeds it back into the grid when demand rises, helping to balance daily and seasonal fluctuations.
The solar installation follows an agri-photovoltaic model: The land remains in use, with grazing livestock beneath the panels. This avoids sealing the soil and allows agriculture and energy production to coexist.
For operator PÜSPÖK Erneuerbare Energie, the project builds on existing experience with wind and solar assets. The hybrid concept adds a new layer of flexibility.
The plant is linked to the European Commission initiative REPowerEU, which aims to accelerate renewable energy deployment and reduce reliance on oil and gas.
