You don’t always appreciate how much space 120 chairs take up… until you have to get them into a lift. 😅

A snapshot of the Fortis chair delivery, and getting the chairs to their final destination was definitely a bit tighter than getting them onto the truck.

When we talk about commercial furniture delivery, getting the product to site is often only half the job.

Then comes:
• loading docks
• narrow corridors
• lifts
• stairs
• restricted access
• and sometimes a bit of creative manoeuvring

Our team deals with these sorts of challenges every week.

For large venue seating orders, it’s one of the reasons we like to understand the site and access requirements before delivery day.

120 new recruits arrived at Port Adelaide yesterday. 😄 Not the sort that will be lining up on game day — these ones are our Fortis chairs.

Our team delivered 120 Fortis chairs to Port Adelaide Football Club, ready for use at the Port Club. Projects like this are always good to see come together. A big part of what we've been building at BDO Furniture is the ability to hold serious quantities of commercial seating locally, so when clubs, venues, schools, and organisations need 50, 100, 200 or more chairs, we're not starting with a 12-week lead time.

The Fortis has become one of our biggest venue seating lines for exactly that reason: commercial build, easy to stack, and available in volume. And there was something fairly satisfying about wheeling a stack of chairs past the 'Welcome to our new recruit' sign yesterday. 😂

The finished office is the easy photo to show. Getting there takes a bit more work.

On a commercial fitout, furniture arriving is just one part of the job.

Delivery coordination. Unpacking. Assembly. Workstations, screens, monitor arms, storage, cable management. All while working around the other trades and the project timeline.

We’d much rather find a mistake in our warehouse than have a customer find it when their order arrives!

That’s why we make sure we spend enough time on the warehouse floor carrying out final QA checks on larger palletised orders before they head out. With commercial furniture, getting everything packed is only part of the job.

We’re checking quantities, products and paperwork, while also making sure everything is properly protected and secured for the journey. Some orders will travel hundreds, or even thousands, of kilometres across Australia.

Once an order is on the road, fixing a mistake gets a whole lot harder.

BDO Furniture was just awarded an order for 280 Fila chairs and 3 trolleys for a local government customer over in WA. Took a while to get there, procurement doesn't move fast but we got the nod.

280 chairs. Half of them already sitting in our warehouse. 🪑

Two things did it: sharp bulk pricing, and the fact we actually had the stock.

More than half were ready to go, so we didn't make them sit around waiting for the full order. We're sending 200 this month, the other 80 next month, and we're covering that second delivery ourselves.

They get most of their chairs when they need them. We sort out the rest. Easy.

This is the whole reason we hold so much stock. Price matters, but half the time it comes down to just working out what someone actually needs and making it happen.
