Direct Kitchens began in 1985 as a family business, manufacturing and providing Custom Made Kitchens and Cabinetry to Boutique Builders across Melbourne. At the time, through our one Kitchen Showroom, we began to see a need for Custom Kitchen Design and High Quality Kitchen Cabinetry in the Kitchen Renovation market, and started to develop a unique system to cater for customers in existing homes. “We realised that the entire Kitchen Renovation experience must be comfortable, efficient, and with minimal disruption to the clients lifestyle.”
Although we still provide Kitchens and Cabinetry to Boutique and Owner-Builders, the Kitchen Renovation market has become our main focus these days. Our unique system has been fine tuned over the years and we can offer our customers a consistently high level of service throughout every step of their Kitchen Renovation process. This includes any other custom made cabinetry at the time and full Bathroom Renovations as well. We now have 3 beautiful Kitchen showrooms spread across Melbourne which showcase the quality of our workmanship and a wide variety of styles, finishes, and internal Kitchen Accessories that are available to you. By visiting one of our Kitchen showrooms, customers are able to see, feel and discover what they need and want to have in their own Dream Kitchen.

Morning or evening, which kitchen moment is yours?

Some kitchens are planned around the floor plan. The best ones are also planned around the light you live in. Here are two of our kitchens at either end of the day. In one, morning sun falls across the floorboards and the room wakes up soft. In the other, a warm pendant over the island turns it into the place everyone gathers.

When we design your kitchen, we think about how it will feel at 7am and at 7pm.

These four cabinet colours all come from rooms we've designed and built. Sage shaker doors keep this laundry calm. Charcoal shaker drawers give this kitchen its depth. Flat woodgrain panels warm up an island, and soft stone-grey shaker doors keep a modern kitchen light and easy.

40 years of Direct Kitchens, and we celebrated in the best way: in our showroom, with the people who made it happen.

Thank you to everyone who came along to raise a glass with us. Old friends, new faces, our team, and plenty of good food and w**e. Since 1985 we've designed and built kitchens for thousands of Melbourne homes, and every one of them started with a conversation like the ones in these photos.
