❤️Feeling thankful this weekend knowing our bus is fixed and ready to head to Wellington next week. ❤️
📢Big shout out to local electrician BRUCE WILLIS who came to our rescue straight away. Bruce knew straight away what to do as he was the tradie who wired our bus for power back in 2017!!

Did you know that Hear Our Heart Ear Bus Project is a completely not-for-profit, community funded service? ❤️🚌
We are a project of the Dubbo & District Deaf Club and receive no ongoing government funding.
Everything we do is made possible through community donations, partnerships, fundraising, sponsorships and the incredible support of volunteers who give their time to help us continue supporting local children and families.
Each year we see thousands of children across Dubbo and surrounding regional communities through schools, remote outreach services and community clinics held from our office at 24 Erskine Street, Dubbo.
We are passionate about making sure rural and regional children have access to ear health education, hearing screening and support, regardless of where they live or their family’s financial situation.
Support doesn’t always have to be financial either. We are always grateful for people willing to donate their time, skills, ideas or lend a helping hand in any way they can.
If you would like to learn more, support our service, volunteer, partner with us or make a donation, please contact our office, send us a message on Facebook or check out our website.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our small community organisation. It truly takes a village ❤️

📸 “WHERE DID ALL THE PHOTOS GO?!” 👀
No… the Ear Bus hasn’t disappeared into the wilderness 🚌💨
And no… Sam and Lucy haven’t stolen the camera either 😂
New privacy laws in early learning centres now limit when organisations can take and share children’s photos online.
So while our page might look a little quieter lately, behind the scenes we’re still busy doing what we do best every single day ❤️

The work hasn’t stopped… we just can’t post as many little smiling faces anymore 📷✨
Thanks for continuing to support Hear Our Heart and our little team of healthy ear superheroes 🦸♀️

⁉️ Did you know that healthy ears start with healthy noses? 👃
As part of our Hear Our Heart Healthy Ears Education Program, we teach children the importance of correct nose blowing and how it can help reduce blocked ears, pressure, fluid build-up, and hearing difficulties associated with middle ear problems.
One of the fun classroom activities we use is the BBCWC Program:
☺️ Breathe
💨 Blow
🥱 Cough
🧼 Wash
🍎 Chew
This program helps children learn healthy habits in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate way, while also supporting listening, learning, speech, concentration, and overall wellbeing in the classroom.
Many people are surprised to learn that the nose and ears are connected through tiny tubes called the Eustachian tubes.
When children have colds, allergies, or blocked noses, fluid and pressure can build up, sometimes affecting hearing, balance, and comfort.
✨👃 Teaching children how to correctly clear their noses and care for their ears can make a BIG difference!
❤️👂 Healthy ears hear better!

Last week, Hear Our Heart had the pleasure of welcoming Sophie, a 2nd year medical student from Sydney School of Rural Health, who joined us for the day at Dubbo and District Preschool as part of our ongoing passion for supporting medical student placements and partnerships. 🌟
The week prior, fellow medical student Andre attended Burrabadine Christian Community School, spending time alongside our team learning about children’s ear health, hearing screening, healthy ears education, referral pathways, and the importance of early intervention within rural and remote communities. 👂🚌
Pictured with Hear Our Heart Nurse Screener, Dana. ❤️
What makes this partnership even more exciting is that all of the medical students participating in the placement program are based in the Dubbo region! 🌾
Supporting local future health professionals and giving them hands-on experience within community ear health is something we are incredibly passionate about. We hope these experiences help provide students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to one day continue supporting children and families across regional communities with middle ear health and hearing concerns.
We are also excited to welcome an additional three medical students in May who will be joining Hear Our Heart for the day.
A huge thank you to Dubbo and District Preschool and Burrabadine Christian Community School for welcoming us into your services and thank you to Sophie and Andre for your enthusiasm, kindness, and willingness to learn. We have loved having you involved with the Ear Bus program! ✨

Hi it’s Rachel here from the volunteer HoH committee. We are needing help from our many followers to continue to support our dedicated staff.
Behind the scenes we are applying for grants and developing partnerships in the towns we visit to help fund our award winning program. We are not government funded. You don’t need to be in Dubbo to be part of the team. We need local people from all the towns we visit.
❤️Please consider joining our volunteer team. We really need more help 🙏
💻 We have an online volunteer meeting on Wednesday night.
