Gerard Murphy Furniture Gallery gives you the opportunity to add another dimension to your home (or the home of someone you like quite a bit) by purchasing or commissioning a truly unique piece of Timber As Art. Each piece holds within itself something of the Southern Grampians, such as a hint of the craggy, protuberant Mount Abrupt or the cradling embrace of the Victoria Valley seen from high on the flank of Mount Sturgeon. Like the surging mountains, some of the furniture is visually dynamic, embodying direction and movement.

The creation of this stunning rectilinear cabinet has a complex genesis. Timber is its start and finish. The client-supplied red gum is just magnificent; its complicated figure and deep tones grab the viewer from the outset and don't let go. Design-wise, shape- wise, everything is intended to expose the wood and magnify the impression of swirling strength that it establishes. Each element contributes harmoniously to this imposing effect. Photographs just can't communicate much of the experience of actually seeing the piece almost hover above its unobtrusive base.

Plain, but...The attraction of this cabinet lies in its simplicity; its rectilinear elegance. The design has been made to harmonise with existing pieces in the space in which it will live.

Function and aesthetic combine in this Redgum entertainment unit. The subtle curves in the top and rails have a softening effect on the cabinet. A commissioned piece.
