Coffee styling tips ↴

1. Leave the outer surface free - this is to allow for you to place utilitarian items such as plates, your feet or keys etc. It will also help the surface feel more balanced and not too heavy.
2. Add height - this could be a vase, bowl etc.
3. Add layering - do this by placing a stack of books with an ornament on top.

What makes a good colour scheme?

A good colour scheme is a harmonious balance between elements. A likeness of chroma, colour temperature and undertone create a cohesive space.

There is a range of harmonious colour groups, such as monochromatic, complementary, clash, analogous etc.

Successful colour schemes use the 50/30/10 rule. 50% is your dominant colour, 30% is your subdominant colour and 10% is your accent colour.

In regards to the colour scheme shown, 50% is Natural White by Dulux, 30% is Domino by Dulux’ and 10% is Hot Ginger by Dulux.

Whether you choose to use it boldly or subtly, colour is one of the most powerful elements in interior design.

Hi, I’m Isabelle, a Hobart based designer.

I am currently studying a Diploma of Interior Design through The Interior Design Institute, whilst studying, I have been lucky enough to gain industry experience, working for Shift Property Styling, the leading property styling company in Hobart, that is recognised nationally. Through this experience, I have gained extensive knowledge of colour composition, furniture selection, spatial planning and styling.

When I’m not working or studying you’ll find me in my dads garage, designing and flipping furniture. You’ll see some of my projects soon!
