BeakerStreet@TMAG Science Photography Prize 2019 19/07/2019

Some great pics in here! Hopefully we can create another virtual gallery for the entrants!
How about that spiny stone crab! ;)

Science seeks to understand the universe. Photographs let us see that universe in new and exciting ways. This album contains the work of Tasmanian Photographers who have entered the BeakerStreet@TMAG Science Photography Prize. This year, to shine a spotlight on our backyard, all entries are of Tasmanian, Southern Ocean or Antarctic content. You can vote for your favourite photographs by liking them within this album (any ‘react’ will be counted as a ‘like’). There is no limit to how many photos you can vote for. The six photographs with the most votes will become competition finalists, and a further six will be chosen by our competition judge Matthew Newton. Finalists will have their work exhibited at TMAG during BeakerStreet@TMAG 2019, a pop-up science bar at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, 16-17 August. POLLS CLOSE JULY 24 2019 at 5PM!

Thanks to our competition supporters Gordon River Cruises and Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, who have contributed incredible prizes for the winners.

This competition would not be possible without the support of Full Gamut, Hobart's amazing art printers and framers, who will be preparing the finalist photographs for exhibition. Find them at www.fullgamut.com.au.

It's so amazing what you can do with neos - now students can create their own content for expeditions!
Thanks to Taroona High School for having us along and thanks to the students that really put the effort in.

If you would like to find out more about doing something like this with your school then please feel free to contact us.

"Rang the Earth Like a Bell!" That's a pretty accurate description of what happens when a large astral body strikes our planet. Take a terrifying tour of impact strikes and extinction events at Triassic Night (www.beakerstreet.com.au/triassic for tickets) with Brittany Trubody, TastroFest founder and prolific science communicator.
