Who else has experienced ridiculous inspections like this with excessive people viewing and applying?

This is a great way for those with lived experience to get creative and contribute to raising awareness about homelessness.

Currently, securing affordable housing is a pressing concern in both Australia and our city. A significant number of individuals are struggling to maintain shelter or experiencing homelessness ๐Ÿ

For those seeking support or aid, the City of Hobart Customer Service Centre, Hobart Town Hall, Mathers House and Youth Arts & Recreation Centre have Hobart Helps cards available. These pocket-sized cards include a map and contact details for city-based services that provide guidance and aid with accommodation, food, health, and wellbeing needs.

To acquire a copy of the Hobart Helps card on your mobile device, text HOBARTHELPS to 0475 111 222 or visit the Hobart Helps website: bit.ly/3n0g74E

Our new Housing and Homelessness Portfolio Committee will focus on the root causes of homelessness and offer recommendations to address housing issues within our community.

Posting on behalf of a member

My children, animals and myself fled our home from domestic abuse at the begining of november 2022, we are still homeless and are yet to recieve 1 night in emergency accomodation, because we refused to leave our animals behind. At this stage even without animals the wait list for emergency accomodation is disgusting.
I have previously taken matters to politicians in a bid to attempt to see our situation and the situation for all homeless families with animals improve. However my attempts to make an improvement have been ignored.
Ella Haddad MP has been trying to help us secure emergency accomodation and suppported us recently in taking our story to the media, sadly this did not offer any form of emergency accomodation except for the animals.
Realising now, that being 1 person, I can not impact the system to help make a difference.
My request is that if you are also escaping family violence and unable to secure your family safe accomodation or the support allocated for this service, even though our Goverment is campaigning across numerous networks for families to make a stand against domestic violence and that there are adequate suppport networks avaliable to ensure your families safety - the Goverment is failing to provide those services and I believe that they should be held accountable for the propaganda campaign they are not committing to!
I would like to gather as many families as possible to work with myself and Ella Haddad to make the Goverment accountable for our housing crisis.
If all enquiries could be sent through to this page, and the admin are able to provid a way for us to network (?) id be very appreciative.

thankyou and many safe wishes for all of us without a home ๐Ÿซถ

Why such a difference in the prices?

A single DSP person still takes up the same space as someone receiving Newstart yet pays nearly twice as much? What are your thoughts? Should they change the way they charge people? Per bed instead of income?

Does anyone have a story to tell?
So many people will be without a home this Christmas. ๐ŸŽ„
Overcrowding with friends and family, in shelters and hostels, sleeping in tents and cars, sleeping on the street.
