I was lucky to photograph a few details, architectural moments, joinery and carpentry fits of genius at the Shearer’s Quarters by
John Wardle on Bruny Island over the weekend.
I was struck by the ingenious use of a restrained palette, the beauty in the asymmetrical nature of the new structure and the care and detail in the restoration of the historical cottage (which I only contemplated from outside!)
Australian vernacular yes, Tasmanian vernacular most definitely.

I will taking in these details as a source of inspiration along many others into my work. So grateful to have so many masters of their art to learn from. Architecture and Interior Design which are holding meaning and storytelling across this country is felt differently. I love this feeling so much!

Capturing light and shadows thru my lens is also very satisfying. I have found that through photography l learn heaps about light, lightning and artificial lighting. I’m hoping this will advance my design journey, it definitely makes it very exciting.

Behind the scenes, the making of the PILLAR LAMP

Deep down I am just a woman trying to be resourceful in her lamp design & making endeavours.
I see potential everywhere, in off cuts, in second hand objects and someone else rubbish.

This is the first base I made from a raw material and ceramic has entered my life now.
Looking forward to keeping on working with my bits and pieces, and this new beautiful medium.

Another lamp is in the making
Xx

Ceramic, linen, and calico, shaped, stitched, and assembled piece by piece!
My first entirely handmade lamp, marking the beginning of a small collection exploring a new material I’ve been drawn to lately: clay.
Thank you so much to Kate for her guidance over the past few weeks, and her wonderful ceramic glazes.

For the past few months, I’ve been experimenting with fabric offcuts, finding ways to turn what’s left behind into something that enhances their imperfect qualities.
This piece is a first iteration not perfect, but full of discovery. I’m excited to keep going deeper into the process.

A few of yesterday pattern making exercises with gouache and watercolour. Which one is your favourite?
What do you imagine these could be?
Upholstery? Wallpaper?

Would you want to stay analogue, you can copy your painting in colour or black and white, get 4 or 8/16/32 tiles copy and then dispose them, play to your hearts content!

Remember to have fun and remember no one knows what they are doing, everyone is having a a crack 😂

I hope you have a lovely day and get creative even for 15 minutes today ❤️
