Jacob has been making the most of his time in our Be Active program ๐
Getting out into the community, moving his body and trying new things, Jacob has been doing it all! From walking to shops across Cessnock and taking on the stairs to the lookout near Bridges Hill Park, to giving boxing a go in centre with a big smile on his face, every activity has been a step toward his goal of maintaining his health and wellbeing.
Well done, Jacob. It is wonderful to see you out and thriving ๐ฅ

When Muswellbrook mum Matilda faced roadblocks on the path to her dream career, she refused to give up.
With support from Mai-Welโs Parent Pathways program, she has built her confidence, gained new qualifications and taken steps towards a career working with horses.
Now, sheโs hoping her story will inspire other parents to take their next step, too.

Meet Alex, a talented artist in our Social, Community and Creative Pathways programs ๐จ
Alex is inspired by having fun. Her art practice is both a form of meditation and an ongoing exploration of her home, the Hunter region. Natural patterns and motifs surface throughout her work, evoking a sense of familiarity shaped by her unique point of view.
She is drawn to acrylic paint, which she describes as the engine driving her practice, and enjoys experimenting with different techniques and textures. Drawing is also a large part of her practice. For Alex, it is less about capturing a scene than exploring it.
Her piece A River was born from excursions around the Maitland and Paterson region, drawing the mountains and trees, a ritual that brings her a simple, grounding sense of good feeling.
A River is a highlight piece in Mai-Wel's Unbound Art Exhibition and is pictured here ๐
