The Avondale Sideboard, 1950
Designed by Paul László
Now available from Ecart

View more details at the link in bio

Paul László (1900–1993) was born in Debrecen, Hungary. He studied
architecture and design at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart before joining the office of the German architect Fritz August Breuhaus (1883–1960) in Cologne. The period was marked by intense debate, as a new generation of architects called for a decisive break with past styles. László settled in Vienna in 1924, where he opened his own agency. He was regarded as one of the leading architects of the period, alongside Hans Stock, Theodor Pfeiffer, Franz Kuhn, and others. He designed and decorated numerous private residences, including the Kopfensteiner House in Vienna and the Atlantica Bar in Prague. He also created ceramic tile stoves for the Heinsteinwerk company in Heidelberg. His projects were published in leading magazines such as Domus, Art et Industrie, and Innen-Dekoration.

The Apparatus Tassel : 57

The Tassel series condenses the warmth and decadence of a traditional chandelier to a concise, modern conclusion. Emanating from a brass dome, the light is amplified as it refracts through mold-blown glass cylinders.

The Double-Sided wall lamp available from Galerie MCDE

Designed in 1923, the rigorous geometry and single volume of this wall lamp reveal the mineral nature of alabaster and Pierre Chareau’s minimalist choice, enhanced by the black metal / white alabaster contrast. Available in two sizes, with the choice of three alabaster types. Handmade by French craftsmen.

C. Gallery is pleased to announce Inclusion, an exhibition of new work by five contemporary Australian artists and design studios, to be held at C. Gallery in South Yarra. The exhibition explores the elevation of quotidian or unexpected materials, processes and ethos into works of fine art and design, featuring contributions from Andrew Carvolth, Claire Ellis, hj-duo, Bron Sargeson, and Emma Shepherd. Each artist or design studio has responded to the duality of the term inclusion, both in its sense as an imperfection and as a levelling or embrace of artistic forms and practices as equal and worthy.

Inclusion is on view at C. Gallery, 50 Davis Avenue South Yarra from 12 February- 30 March 2026.
