A little piece of Australian history being restored.

We've been busy milling Oregon timber for the restoration of the historic Repatriation Ward B (Building 497) at Callan Park in Sydney.

Built in 1920 to accommodate returned First World War servicemen, the building sits near the Sydney Harbour Bridge War Memorial and is now being restored for a new chapter in its history.

It's great to see Oregon timber playing a part in preserving a building with such a significant past.

Oregon is often sought after for heritage-listed and period restoration projects, where matching the original timber profiles and preserving traditional details is so important.
For this project, Matty at Melbourne Heritage Woodworks carefully machined our timber to replicate the original fascia boards — creating an authentic match while retaining the character of the building.

✅Our Oregon currently comes in lengths of up to 9.6m allowing builders to use a solid section of timber rather than laminated/finger jointed or plated timbers.
Our Oregon is medium to fine grain and is Free of Heart Centre, which means minimal movement as it dries.

✅For the past 8 years, our Douglas Fir / Oregon timber has been professionally treated using H3 Tru Core (clear) Azole treatment, which protects against:
✔️ Termites (white ants)
✔️ Borers
✔️ Decay

True Canadian Oregon has had a bad rep for many years being confused with similar pre cut timber from NZ, but this genuine old growth Oregon is tight grained and machines beautifully into superb skirtings - look us up and Matty at Melbourne Heritage Woodworks.
