For Sale $600
I picked this Table up off Marketplace and restored it as a Coffee Table and have now put it up for sale.
English Solid Oak and Beechwood, in the Tudor Style, Circa 1920's,
1070 L x 600 W x 520 H
There are few coffee tables before the 1940's, they developed more into the 1950's onwards,
One way around finding period Style pieces that didn't really exist is to modify older pieces to suit,
Converting pieces is how I got started 46 years ago and still enjoy saving pieces that are otherwise discarded these days 😁

A set of 4 Queen Anne Style Blackwood Chairs, Circa 1930's that I just finished restoring the frames and now ready for the upholsterers.
I used to do dozens of these 20 to 30 years back, but only the occasional set these days,
Ironically saying that, I have another set of 5 to start tomorrow πŸ™‚

I restored the top of this Reproduction Hall Table, about 20 years old,
The quality of wood is superb and well worth the money to fix the split top and refinish.
The base I freshened the colour, cleaned and waxed it πŸ™‚

You know all that Orange coloured Pine furniture that was so popular 20 to 30 years back, well clients pick pieces up for just dollars off of Marketplace.
They bring to me to do something to make them look better again, so I can generally retint over top of the old Orange finish, it's not a perfect way, bit it works pretty well at Contemporizing older pieces of furniture.
You can't complain about the solid Pine furniture when everything is vaneer on craftwood these days...
The piece below I retinted in a deep Walnut colour πŸ™‚

Some before and after pics
I stay away from FB Marketplace as much as I can as I see to many potential bargains that I could make a buck on,
I don't have the space for a bunch of future projects to sit around waiting for me to fix them up.
People give me things though, from time to time that I will lfix up for a bit of date money for Narelle Carnegie and I, that's fine of course.
But this I saw for $20, and remembered from many years ago, because I had sold it to a lady back when I had a showroom around 10 years ago.
A really cool Art Deco 2 Tier Side Table, Circa late 1940's
It restored up nicely but I wasn't able to sell it for date money as my darling wife said "yes please" so now it is her side table next to the sofa πŸ™„

Part of last week's Table tops, in this case a couple of side table tops, the little round Oak and Beechwood Coffee Table, about 40 or 50 years old, and the second, a Solid Oak drop leaf Barley Twist Side Table, Circa 1920's,
I often refinish the rop only of Tables, then touch up and freshen the bases up with great results, and can save alot of money doing it this way rather than a full restoration πŸ™‚

I had an week of dining tables last week,
The Mountain Ash table I cut down for a couple, it was an 8 seater, but now in their 80's, they felt it was too large to down size with, and the quality to replace it with these days was crap compared to the solid wood of their exsisting table,
Even the ones 20 or 30 years back, are so much better than what's out there today, many can be cut down πŸ™‚
The second Round Maple and Blackwood Table w/2 leaves, is a full restoration, Circa 1920's, still strong and straight after 100 years

A fiddley restoration to do this heavily carved 40 year old Chinese Drop Front Desk in Paduk, but happy with how it turned out πŸ™‚
