Congratulations to our Community Captain Wayne Sticher, who has just been awarded a Churchill Fellowship by the Winston Churchill Trust - AU
Wayne was bold enough to apply, and he's now heading overseas to Canada, Denmark, Singapore and the UK to learn from the world's best on the very thing we turn up for every week: getting more people volunteering, so fewer people are left isolated.
If you know Wayne, you know this is exactly him. As he puts it, "everyone deserves to feel seen, valued and connected, and loneliness is not simply being alone, it is feeling unseen." That's the heart of Cycling Without Age, and now he gets to study how the rest of the world does it and bring the best ideas home for our seniors, people with disability, and the wider community.
Go well, Wayne. We can't wait to follow along and see what you bring home.
You can read about his Fellowship here: https://www.churchilltrust.com.au/fellow/wayne-sticher-qld-2026/
Thank you to the Winston Churchill Trust - AU for backing him. https://www.churchilltrust.com.au/

Seats open this Friday.
Trishaws ready, pilots keen, and a few seats still to fill this Friday at Paradise Point.
If you've been meaning to book a ride for someone, this is your nudge. Friday 11 September, Paradise Point, with the Broadwater looking its best.
Every ride is free. All you have to do is pick a time. It's a slow roll by the water, good company, and someone else doing the pedalling. Perfect for a parent, a grandparent, a neighbour, or anyone who'd love a morning out.
Spots are limited, so grab one while they're going.

See you Friday. ๐

It's open. The fencing at the Paradise Point playground came down a week early.
The official celebration is still on for next Saturday, 12 September. A free morning at Paradise Point Parklands, 10am to 1pm: free blue snow cones, bubble play, glitter tattoos, kids activities and a DJ.
Everyone deserves time outside, in a space they can actually get into. The City of Gold Coast built this one that way: inclusive play equipment, accessible surfacing, and a Changing Places bathroom for people with disability and high support needs. So kids and families with disability can get in and play right alongside everyone else, not from the sidelines. That's the whole reason we do what we do, so seeing it on our doorstep is a very good day.
A proper thank you to Cr Shelley Curtis, who has been a real friend to Cycling Without Age Gold Coast, and to the City of Gold Coast for making a space the whole community can actually use.

Last week, residents from Southern Cross Care, Stretton Gardens made the trip all the way from Drewvale to spend time with us at Paradise Point.
A few of them use wheelchairs, and more than one said they never thought they would feel the wind on a bike ride again. Nothing makes us happier than seeing our trishaws carry everyone along together, no one left sitting out.
One of our resident swans even came by to keep a close eye on things and make sure the group had a good morning.
Thank you, Stretton Gardens, for making the journey and for including Cycling Without Age Gold Coast in such a special day. There are seats by the water waiting for all of you whenever you want to come back.

We love being part of a community filled with those who quietly make an enormous difference.
This morning, one of the highlights was a visit from Gold Coast Benji, who is about to depart on a mission to help people in Nepal.
Benji is a welcome and valued part of our Cycling Without Age - Gold Coast family. Itโs always exciting to hear what part of the world heโs jetting off to next โ always with the same purpose: to build community, strengthen connection, and change things for the better.
Thanks, Benji.
Travel safe, and know you take our very best wishes with you.

Community partnerships in action ๐๐ฒ
A big thank you to the Gold Coast Community Fund for backing Cycling Without Age Gold Coast. Their funding partnership helps us keep our trishaw rides free and open to everyone, so older people and people living with disability can get out for fresh air, a chat, and that lovely feeling of the wind in their hair.
Recently we had GCCF social work placement students Will, Harry and Toby jump on the bikes with us. They rolled up their sleeves, lent a hand, and got to feel firsthand the joy and connection these rides bring.
Thank you, GCCF, for helping keep our wheels turning, and thank you Will, Harry and Toby for getting involved. We loved having you.
